Temperature Sensors, Blocks and Cables
Temperature Sensor Assembly
FireRight temperature sensors are constructed of premium grade ISA Type K (nickel-chromium vs. nickel-aluminum) thermocouple wire. The temperature sensitive junction is formed by butt-welding to provide the fastest possible response. Heavy-duty 8-gauge wire is used to provide the longest possible useful life. These sensors feature 7.5-inch elements, which should protrude at least 1.5-inch into the kiln or furnace.A high quality porcelain mounting block with two screw attachment slots provides for easy mounting on the kiln, and a extra flexible 7.5-foot modular extension cable plugs into any standard FireRight control. For controls and pyrometers not fitted with modular connectors the plug may be replaced with standard 1/4" quick connect terminals without significantly affecting the accuracy of the sensor.
Thermocouple Replacement Elements
Type K thermocouples are vulnerable to a corrosion process which limits their useful life when used at temperature higher than 1830°F (1000°C). The element's longevity depends mostly upon the temperature extreme and the time spent at extreme temperatures. Keep a replacement element on hand to save the day when burn outs occur. These 7.5-inch replacement elements fit any standard FireRight temperature sensor assembly.
Thermocouple Mounting Block
Our best quality high-temperature porcelain mounting block, featuring brass terminals and built-in screw slots for easy mounting.
Sensor Extension Cable
Thermocouple temperature sensors must be connected using matching thermocouple extension cable. These extra-flexible modular cables use light gauge stranded wire with soft PVC insulation. The sensor ends are fitted with brass connectors which make for easy connection to the mounting block. For controls or pyrometers not fitted with modular connectors, the "RJ11" plug may be replace with 1/4-inch "quick connect" or push-on terminals without significantly affecting the accuracy of the sensor.
